Who is the Rubona Primary School Foundation?+

We focus on building and improving school infrastructure, providing learning materials, and supporting students who would otherwise be unable to continue their education.
How are donations used?+
Donations are used exclusively to support our charitable programs, including the construction and improvement of classrooms and school facilities, the provision of educational resources such as books, desks, and learning materials, and scholarships to help students from low-income families attend secondary school. All expenditures are approved and monitored by the Foundation's Board of Directors.
How does the Foundation manage projects in Uganda?+
Although our projects take place in Uganda, they are directed and overseen from Canada. The Foundation works with trusted local professionals and school representatives under written agreements. Progress and spending are monitored through regular reporting and site visits to ensure funds are used as intended.
Is my donation tax-deductible?+
Eligible donations made in Canada receive an official charitable donation receipt for income tax purposes, in accordance with Canada Revenue Agency guidelines.
Do donors receive anything in return for their donation?+
Donors do not receive goods or services in exchange for their contributions. The only benefit provided is an official tax receipt and appropriate acknowledgment of support.
What fundraising activities does the Foundation use?+
Our fundraising activities are simple and community-based. They may include direct donations from individuals and families, occasional fundraising dinners or social events, and the sale of handcrafted baskets purchased from a local cooperative in Rubona. These activities are intended to support, not replace, our charitable work.
How does the Foundation keep costs reasonable?+
We aim to keep fundraising and administrative costs proportionate and reasonable. Most of the Foundation's work is carried out by volunteers, and we carefully monitor expenses to ensure the maximum possible share of donations supports programs on the ground.
How can I be confident my donation is used responsibly?+
Transparency and accountability are central to our work. We maintain detailed financial records, approve expenditures in advance, share regular updates with donors, and provide information about project progress and outcomes.
Can I support a specific project or student?+
Donors may express an interest in supporting particular types of projects, such as classroom construction or scholarships. While we cannot guarantee that donations will be applied to a specific individual, we make every effort to honour donor intentions within our charitable programs.
How will I hear about the impact of my donation?+
We share updates through our website, email communications, and occasional reports, including photos and stories from the school community. Donors are always welcome to contact us with questions.
